Two new hubs launched in North East and South West London
The National Modern Languages SCITT (NML SCITT) has launched two new hubs covering North East London and Essex, and South West London, opening the door for more opportunities for potential new languages teachers. The launch of the North East London and Essex hub and the South West London hub will mean that anyone who is wanting to become a languages teacher in these areas will now have easy access to the NML SCITT and can undertake their training locally in a location that is convenient to them.
The North East London and Essex hub is led by Brentwood School in Essex, one of the UK’s leading independent schools for boys and girls aged 3-18. This hub is offering places for trainee teachers with French, German, Italian, Mandarin and Spanish.
The South West London hub is led by Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton, a successful independent girl’s school for pupils aged 7-18. This hub is offering places for trainee teachers with French, German and Spanish.
Any aspiring languages teachers completing their training at these new hubs will be supported every step of the way by our hub leaders who are experts in the field of modern foreign languages and who have many years of experience teaching languages, mentoring trainees and early career teachers, and leading in teaching and learning.
The NML SCITT is the only national teacher training provider solely focused on modern languages. Training is offered through our network of hubs based around England. All our hubs work collaboratively with a range of partner schools within their area which means that trainees will complete most of their training and placements within close proximity of their chosen hub.
Reina Campbell, Hub Leader for the North East London and Essex hub, said: “We’re so excited to be joining the NML SCITT! This excellent opportunity will enable us to provide high-quality training through a well-established and successful training programme, allowing us to contribute to the local community by fostering the development of excellent teachers.”
Juliet FitzGerald, Hub Leader for the South West London hub, added: “This partnership provides a strong synergy between our goals and the NML SCITT’s objectives of creating outstanding languages teachers. We’re looking forward to working with our new trainees to help them become the best teachers they can be!”
Katrin Sredzki-Seamer, Director of the National Modern Languages SCITT, added: “The addition of the two new hubs will mean that we can enhance our training offer further which will undoubtedly provide increased opportunities for aspiring languages teachers to access quality training in North East London and Essex, and South West London. We’re looking forward to working with our new hubs and would like to thank them for their collaboration and support as we continue our journey to cultivate the next generation of outstanding teachers.”
