The event took place at Sheffield Hallam University where trainees from all of our training hubs around England, together with our hub leaders and NML SCITT staff, were reunited to celebrate the fantastic achievement of completing their teacher training and gaining qualified teacher status.

The class of 2023 were congratulated by key staff from NML SCITT and took part in a fun and engaging final professional development session that was delivered by James Stubbs from The Language Target Classroom. The event concluded with the presentation of certificates and thank you speeches by trainees who presented gifts to NML SCITT staff.

With many trainees already securing teaching positions starting in September, the event provided an opportunity to for NML SCITT staff and trainees to reflect on the last year and also look forward to their amazing future careers as teachers.

    Published 23/05/23

Did you know that you can train to teach languages with us in Humber and North Lincolnshire or East Midlands and South Lincolnshire at our hubs based in these areas? Our geographical hubs around England offer a unique opportunity enabling you to undertake your training in a location that is convenient to you.

We have a network of nine hubs based around England. Each of our hubs work collaboratively with a range of excellent partner schools within their area which means that you will complete most of your training and placements within close proximity to your chosen hub.

Our hubs are based in a lead school within their area. The lead school for our Humber and North Lincolnshire Hub is Humberston Academy in Grimsby and the lead school for our East Midlands and South Lincolnshire Hub is Charles Reed Academy in Grantham. Both schools are part of the David Ross Education Trust, recognised as one of 11 system leaders nationwide that works with 34 primary and secondary schools.

Throughout your training you will be supported every step of the way by our expert hub leaders who have many years of experience of teaching modern foreign languages in a range of schools and can provide advice and guidance from completing your application form to finding your first teaching job after you have completed your training.

Virginie Barré, the NML SCITT Hub Leader for both the Humber and North Lincolnshire and East Midlands and South Lincolnshire Hubs, said: “This unique opportunity provided by the NML SCITT has enabled us to train excellent languages teachers within the Humber and North Lincolnshire and East Midlands and South Lincolnshire area through a subject specific, well-established and connected training programme. Ultimately, improving the outcomes of young people within the area.
