Train to teach German with our SCITT Programme

We help our German SCITT trainees reach Qualified Teacher Status and become a German teacher by providing opportunities for in-classroom experience, developing strategies and planning modern language lessons alongside fully qualified teachers. Your time in the classroom will be recorded in an evidence portfolio throughout your German teacher training and be submitted as part of your final assessment through Sheffield Hallam University.

First class, school-based training

Throughout your training year you will meet regularly with your mentor for one-to-one sessions and receive advisory visits from your Lead Teacher in German, as well as receive support from your network of like-minded peers. You will receive full access to the facilities at Sheffield Hallam University and have the opportunity to attend PGCE seminars given by experienced lecturers. You will also attend the NML SCITT local hub and central training days, run by experts in modern languages teaching.

From modern languages graduate to working as a German teacher

To date we have helped hundreds of our SCITT graduates into German and modern foreign languages careers across our network of fantastic schools. Our relationship with the Sheffield Teaching School Alliance ensures we can continue to help our trainees directly into teaching after reaching Qualified Teacher Status. Our experienced and friendly team are available to provide tailored guidance and support throughout your teacher training and give you the confidence to gain employment as a German teacher.
