Train to teach French with our Modern Languages SCITT Programme

On our SCITT teaching programme you’ll train to reach Qualified Teacher Status in two of our partner schools, where you’ll have the opportunity to develop strategies and plans for modern language lessons. The SCITT Secondary School French placement is intended to improve your teaching and lesson planning techniques and give you hands-on experience to record as evidence in your portfolio ready for your final assessment.

First class, school-based training

You’ll receive regular online and face-to-face support and training for both you and your Mentor. This is backed up by support and advisory visits from your nominated Lead Teacher. You will also attend the NML SCITT local hub and central training days, run by experts in modern languages teaching. Plus you attend PGCE seminars with university lecturers and all our teachers in training have full access to the facilities at Sheffield Hallam University. During your initial induction period, you’ll get the chance to meet other French and modern language trainees, with the encouragement to build a close-knit network of peers who will act as additional support throughout your training to become a French teacher and your career.
